Roberto Caferri holds a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of Bologna (2016) and a master’s degree in Agri-Food Biotechnology from the University of Verona (2019), specializing in photosynthesis and bioenergy. He completed his PhD in 2023 with a thesis titled “At the Crossroad Between Light Harvesting and Photoprotection: The Antenna Protein CP29 as a Target for Synthetic Biology in Photosynthesis,” focusing on the molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis.
His expertise spans biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology, with a particular emphasis on understanding the structure-function relationship of antenna proteins. His work bridges fundamental biology and applied biotechnology, with the goal of enhancing photosynthetic efficiency in crops and advancing bioenergy applications.
Currently, Roberto holds a postdoctoral position at the Photosynthesis and Bioenergy Laboratory at the University of Verona. He employs advanced techniques, including membrane nanodiscs, and collaborates with international teams specializing in structural biology and ultrafast spectroscopy, contributing to cutting-edge research in the field.
