Davide Silvestri earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Florence and later completed a Master’s degree in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology at the University of Bologna, both with honors. His Master’s thesis focused on the enzymatic and structural characterization of the SARS-CoV-2 main protease, with particular emphasis on kinetic studies performed through isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).

He is currently a research fellow at the University of Verona. His research focuses on synthetic, molecular, and structural biology in microalgae, where he applies advanced genomic tools to investigate the behavior and structure of proteins involved in the non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) mechanism
