Antonello Amelii, Roberto Caferri, Zeno Guardini, and Luca Dall’Osto attended the International Conference on Photosynthesis Research and the ICPR26 Light Harvesting Satellite Meeting, held in Liverpool, UK, from 23 to 30 July 2026.
ICPR26 in Liverpool brought together leading researchers to explore the latest advances in photosynthesis science. Topics covered light harvesting, CO2 assimilation, and energy conversion efficiency in C3, C4, and CAM pathways. Highlights included chloroplast signaling, biogenesis of the photosynthetic apparatus, and synthetic biology approaches to enhance crop yield and resilience. The conference fostered cross-disciplinary collaborations, spanning fundamental mechanisms to applied bioenergy and climate-smart agriculture.
All the researchers contributed with oral presentations:
- Antonello Amelii, “Back to the seabed: the unique Photosystem I architecture of the seagrass Posidonia oceanica”
- Roberto Caferri, “Spectral re-design of Lhcb proteins for engineering photosynthetic light-use efficiency”
- Zeno Guardini, “Long-wavelength absorbing chlorophylls of Photosystem I improve photosynthetic productivity under far-red-enriched environment”
- Luca Dall’Osto, “Light-harvesting complexes prevent energy spillover between photosystems by mediating grana stacking in land plant chloroplasts”
